A Massive Thank You To You All!!!

From all the riders in The Brotherhood that took part in the 2013 Nightrider event to raise money for Dystonia, we would like to say;

Thank You

to all those who sponsored us with your hard earned cash this year. The response has been amazing and we are so happy that we have been able to raise as much money as we have. Your kind generosity this year has really made us proud.

In total so far we have managed to raise…

This really has made all the blood sweat and tears worth it. But it would not have been without your help that we would have raised so much. Thank you for all your support.

We hope that the blogs have been able to keep you up to date with our progress and that we have given you a tasteof what we have done this year. with any luck in the future, (IF we complete another ride) we can improve again and help you to see what we have been up to.

All we have to do now is decide what it is that we are going to do next year 🙂 and begin our training again.

The sponsorship page is now closed to donations. For this years ride so all that remains to be said is;

Thank You So Much

Last Chance To Donate

In a few days time, The Brotherhood Bike Rides sponsorship page will close to donations if you didn’t get the chance before, or your forgot but wanted to provide us with a little donation, then now is the time to do it. The last chance before the sponsorship page closes. We have done a fantastic job this year of gathering money, but as we have said in other posts, every last penny counts to the Dystonia society because they are a small charity with a big task.

If you can spare just a small amount of cash, then please donate it now before the sponsorship pages close.

£1000.00 Raised

That’s Right!!! Thanks to you we have managed to raise…..

We can’t thank you enough for your support this year and we are really pleased that we have been able to raise £1000 for the Dystonia Society which is a brilliant contribution to the charity.

The amount raised here also takes in to consideration the gift aid contribution that everyone has added this year and just goes to show that it can make a big difference. plus the fact that it actually costs the donator nothing to do.

If you havent and would like to, there is still time to make this figure grow. Simply go to;

The Brotherhood Sponsorship Page.

We Made It! – 67.05 Miles Across London!!!

Yes that’s right, The Brotherhood made it the full distance without loosing a single team member. Everyone who started the bike ride crossed the finish line together. And what an amazing ride it has been!

Mark and Simon riding over the river Thames

In the coming days we intend to write a blog to tell you all about it. but to give you a brief overview of the ride we are putting this post up to wet your appetite before we go to bed. Don’t forget that it isn’t too late to sponsor us. In fact if you haven done it now would be a great time. We would like to see if we can make the total go over £900.00 so if you haven’t done it yet please spare us a little cash and hit the link below to sponsor The Brotherhood.

With lots of landmarks to see you would thing that we would stop as often as possible to take pictures but the truth is that it was very cold and stopping for long periods of time or messing with cameras made it hard to get good pictures. More will follow in the next few days.

while we were at the top of Alexander palace, we got a picture of Brother Mary while she was riding her bike. worth a look when you come back

All in all this was a very enjoyable ride with thousands of people who were happy to chat at every set of lights. See the ride statistics in full here;

Night Rider

When you are looking through the stats the one thing that you will notice is that there is a lot of time stopped. this was not something that we had thought of but almost every set of traffic lights in London decided to be red and as such every time they were the track records it as waiting. if we took all that time off, then the ride would have been a lot quicker. however, there were times when waiting at the traffic lights was a blessing 🙂

One of the most interesting thing about the ride this time was having other people all around you where ever you were in the ride. this meant that there was always a sence that you were a part of something big and although everyone who was there had their own charity to raise money for they were all there for the same purpose. to help others and have some fun. I think that I can speak for everyone in The Brotherhood when I say that it was an amazing feeling to be riding with so many others. Sticking together in our own little group made it all the more interesting as we were able to keep each other motivated as we all felt the burn at different times.

Getting to the top of Alexander Palace was a real sense of achievement for us all as this was a very long climb and being able to be doing that as the sun came up and looking out over London as we continued to ride on down the hill on the other side was really satisfying. Keep your eyes on this site over the next day or so as we will be putting together an album of all our pictures for you to see how the whole bike ride went.

We hope that you are able to understand that although fun to do, this bike ride has a very important and personal reason behind it. One of the families close friends is a sufferer of Dystonia which was the charity that we have been raising money for as we rode the 67.05 miles across London. This disorder is life changing and can affect almost anyone. In the Case of our very good friend it has been a big part of his life for sometime. but very little is known about Dystonia and as well as raising money for the cause and reasearch in to it, our mission was also to raise awareness of Dystonia and its effects on people and their families.

Please take the time ti visit the Dystonia Society Website and learn more about its effects and then spread the word so that people get to know the term.

Learn more about Dystonia and its effects.

So far, The Brotherhood have managed to raise,

We would like to thank all those who have been able to give a donation big or small very much and promise you that the money will be spent well in trying to reasearch the condition and help those who suffer from it.

Thank you all from the bottom of our heart on behalf of the Dystonia Society.

Half Way Around And On Track.

So we are doing really well. We are now about half way round the circuit and as you can see from maps and pictures really enjoying ourselves. It’s not all easy! There have been several really difficult hills. And everyone’s legs are starting to feel tired.

If you can, please sponsor us to show your appreciation for all our hard work!!!

Its here at last!!

OK, the final day has arrived. After 3 months of hard training and slog, battling north winds and freezing weather we have arrived at the day we have been aiming for. The Night Rider starts tonight!!

Along with Simon, Mark an Mary I will be forming The Brotherhood and cycling 100Km round London at the dead of night. We will take in the major sights of London, Tower Bridge, St. Paul’s Cathedral, The Monument, Canary Wharf, Alexandra Palace, Heath, Regents Park, Houses of Parliament, Impwerial War Museum and Crystal Palace – to name but a few.

The ‘Trusty Steeds’ have bee serviced and polished to within an inch of their life and are all set for the challenge. We start at 11.00pm and hope to finish about 7.00 to 8.00 am tomorrow morning.

Wish us luck, and don’t forget, it’s never too late to sponsor us.
